Elena woke up with a throbbing headache. She groaned as she turned over to look at the clock -5am. She grimaced as she rubbed her eyes and forehead, trying to rub away her hangover. She noticed to the edge of the bed and patted the floor beneath her, searching for her bag. She leaned over too far and toppled out of her bed taking the sheets with her. "Great." She mumbled, as she tried to find her way out of covers.
At that moment, Damon came bursting through the door. "Elena?" I heard a bang! Are you okay-?" Damon cut himself off when he saw Elena in a bundle of sheets on the floor. He laughed loudly. "Elena, I think you're still drunk." He raised his eyebrows and tried to with hold his laughter.
Elena pulled the sheets off her head and brushed back the hair from her face. She looked up at him and sulked. "I think so too."
Damon rolled his eyes and smirked as he approached her. He took her hand and gently lifted her off the floor, still trying to hold in his laughter. He gently put his arm around her waist and guided her back to bed. Elena smiled at him and curled up in a ball, closing her eyes. "Thank you." She mumbled.
And she really meant it, she was so grateful for Damon, he was unbelievably kind and good to her, she didn't know why. She didn't deserve it.
Damon returned her smile and picked up the sheets from the floor. He lay the covers over her and tucked them around her, making sure she was warm.
He gazed down at her lovingly, he could are at her all day. Every time he looked at her, he was blown away by her beauty. He never thought her could love anyone more than he had once loved Katherine, but now here he was. He would do anything for her, anything to make her happy. He smiled to himself as he felt his un-beating heart flutter like a teenagers. "Good night Elena." He whispered, he leaned forward and kissed her forehead, he lingered there for a moment, as he inhaled her, closing his eyes.
All he wanted to do was take her in his arms and kiss her.
He shook his head and hurried out of the room, before he did something he would probably regret. He dived into his bed and led down, worrying he would jump back up and do exactly what he was dying to do. He sighed to himself, closed his eyes and quickly fell asleep.
Only ten minutes after Damon had helped Elena back into bed did she wake up again.
She let out a long sigh as she rolled onto her back. She stared up at the ceiling as she remembered Damon kissing her head before he left. She smiled to herself as she gently touched the area on her forehead where his lips had been, not so long ago.
She sighed to herself, why was she feeling like this? All she wanted to do was run in and repeat what she had said the other night, tell him that she had lied when she said it would always be Stefan. Why couldn't he just have heard her? Vampires were supposed to hear everything.
She frowned and jumped out of her bed, she tiptoed across the room until she reached the door that connected their bedrooms. She pressed her ear up against and held her breath to make sure she could hear clearly.
Silence apart from Damon's heavy breathing, she smiled to herself, he must be asleep. She couldn't help it, she had to be close to him, even if he wasn't awake. She opened the door as quietly as she could and stepped inside the room, gently closing the door behind her.
She bit her lip in concentration as she tiptoed across the room, trying not the wake Damon.
She gazed over at him, he looked gorgeous in his sleep, so innocent.. vulnerable. She had never seen him in this way before. She smiled fondly and quietly made her way around to the other side of the bed.
She wasn't sure what she was doing or even why she was doing it but she didn't care much either. She just wanted to be close to him.
She climbed into the bed and pulled the sheets over her. She carefully moved closed closer to him, their faces only inches apart now, she reached under the covers and found his hands with hers.
She entwined her fingers through his and breathed a happy sigh, smiled to herself.
She rested her head against the pillow and sighed happily. Her eyes slowly fluttered shut and she fell into a happy, deep sleep.
